Your Poetry Sucks.
Poetic verse does not sleep contently within your bones. You are not made of Shakespearean sonnets. Metaphors do not cling to your teeth like snowdrops, and similes do not lurk like assassins behind those false psychic eyes. Your veins bleed nothing but red. And your whispers, they will never leave galaxies along the length of spines. So, Dear Heart, you can take your stars, your full moon romances, the many, desperate love letters, the gag-worthy cliches- and eat them.

You should never attack a poet,
we are the best at exploiting weakness. the night you took a scalpel to my chest & fed my heart to the stars, you told me i could hate you if i needed to. with an exorcism i tried to cast you out of my body. i was contorted limbs: the language of tongues trying to find myself in the cosmos of lit kerosene fingertips, & the kinds of habits that only choke me at 3am - when my eyes aren’t yet heavy enough for sleep; my mind tells me to do awful things. between fucking & i-don’t-know-who-i-am- anymore, you are the calories in the mathematical equation scribbled & scratched out of me. i think of shy moons an

Poets have the loneliest hearts.
I drink morphine like peach tea; down 6 pills by morning just to keep my mind filled up with nothing. & I know I can go days without speaking a word but- I want a moon shy girl with wolves at her back, bite mark ankles & a bottle of writer’s tears tucked under one arm. I want to be end of the war kisses bruised into her hipbones; the epilogue written over her tiger-striped skin. With these wisteria limbs February cold, & these weak lungs exhaling coralline whispers, I’ve got a tongue for words but still have no idea how to love a universe girl.

Before I Can Become a Writer
Develop insomnia. Develop problems with substance abuse, nothing serious, but enough that I can say “write drunk, edit sober” and mean it. Drink tea. Write about drinking tea. Take up smoking, ignore the thoughts about it being a slower suicide. Write about suicide. Don’t mean it. Write about sunsets and ink veins. Mean it. Fall in love with someone who will never love me back. Lament. Write a million crappy poems and two good ones. Never show him. Move on. Write a few more bad poems. Fall in love with someone perfect. Screw it up. Fall in love with someone awful. Call him perfect. Screw it up. Cry. Cry for the inevitab

Curing Depression in Seven Easy Steps

reasons why we should be in love
if I could I’d love you like those couples who grow into each other and make poetry out of body language and wear one another’s weaknesses when they get too heavy and talk about the weather without ever really meaning the weather at all; and you’d keep me from falling asleep in the ocean and I’d lie about little things, always confusing Sunday for Tuesday and you for somebody with the same face who was always afraid of me. you’d chuckle and hold me and I’d cave in to you like the hungry tide and you’d say I looked beautiful when I cried and I wouldn’t believe you but I’d cry more anyw

4 am
I’m trying not to let it consume me, but it’s 4:05 am, and I’m staring at the ceiling. Bitterness wets me tongue, and I lick my parched lips. Nothing is heard throughout the house except for the soft hum of the water heater, doing work nobody sees. Somewhere in the distance, there’s a car driving down the road, although I can’t imagine who in their right mind would be driving at this time. It’s 4:06 am, now, and I can feel the beginnings of a migraine developing on the left side of my face. Maybe count backwards from 100? But it’s too late now – my brain is already running. I

Drip
Drip. Drip. Goes my heart. I'm loosing emotions fast. I can't seal a leak with a band-aid, so I'll wait for the storm to pass. Eco. Eco. Goes my life. I'll never come first in someone's heart. So leave me as an abandoned project, bound to fall apart. Bang. Bang. Let me in. I can't take the cold anymore I'm tired of being alone and left behind locked doors Drip. Drip. It goes again. Sealing it is getting tough. Drip. Drop. Make it stop. My heart has had enough.

we were happy together. i still remember your warmth. your laugh. your smile. your love. that's why.... i don't understand. every day, i'm reminded of you, even if it's in some very little way. seeing the swings or lovers holding each other close. i always remember. because you... you were my everything. how could you have done this? why did you believe so adamantly that this would be the best path to take? now i'm left with the little pieces of myself, trying to fix them. you left me behind... and yet, i don't hate you. i can't. though you're gone, i find myself missing you more than anything else. i loved you. i trusted you. i wanted t

How To Be Normal
HOW TO SUCCEED AT BEING A NORMAL TEENAGER: (In 15 easy steps!) 1. The first step in becoming a normal, bland, and spineless individual is very simple. Never think. About anything. Ever. If you have a thought, let it go. Let someone else think for you. Thinking is hard. Let someone else do it. Save your little conformist brain cells for something less difficult. 2. Now let's talk about music. You like unique music? Not anymore! You get to listen to the same generic, repetitive sound that everyone else does. You know, that one beat over and over with the words "Yeah", "baby" and "ooh" being repeated. Lucky you! 3. To be normal, you've gotta

Too Late

In its center lays a figure, A figure nothing more but A shell of one who has lost its view. It screams and thrashes. Aches and cries. Begs and kills. And bleeds out. But nothing happens. It is just there. Alone Lost And forgotten Forgotten by itself. For who knew him, It destroyed With nothing more But passion. Its life tumbled away, And fell six feet under ground In the body of a pretty redheaded, Green-eyed lamb And who has it to blame? No one but itself. Or rather, the body of him. There's someone that I dearly miss in this world, and you probably will never guess who it is unless you know me REALLY well. I made this in memory of her (no, she's not dead).

This is a beautiful green. (: The contrast between it and black and the three simple words made it even more wonderful.
